Harvey Myers Bauman

   Harvey Myers Bauman, 96, passed away Feb. 1, 2017, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.  Harvey was born Nov. 27, 1920, in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, to the late Henry and Annie (Myers) Bauman.  On May 28, 1944, he married Pauline Sprunger Bauman who preceded him in death on Sept. 3, 2015.
   Harvey graduated from Quakertown High School and later Bluffton College.  He was an electrician for Barnes-Joy and City Loan and Savings.  He was a member of First Mennonite Church in Bluffton where he sang in the choir and was also known as the “Elevator Man.”    He enjoyed wood working and completed many projects in homes and at Bluffton College.  Harvey had served on the Bluffton Board of Public Affairs for fifteen years and also the Mennonite Memorial Home board. 

Bruce N. Marshall

    Bruce N. Marshall, 68, of Hartford, Connecticut, formerly of Bluffton, passed away Feb. 1, 2017, while on hospice at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hartford, Connecticut, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
   Bruce was born Dec. 12, 1948, in Bluffton to Kimmel and Maxine (Cook) Marshall who preceded him in death.
   In his youth, Bruce was a devoted member of the Boy Scout Troop 256 where he achieved his Eagle Scout.  Bruce was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War. Before the onset of his illness, Bruce was a surveyor in Ohio and Connecticut.
   Bruce is survived by a son, Ryan Neil Marshall; two sisters, Linda (Eddy) Smith of Endwell, New York, Sue (Dennis) Kamann of Prospect, Kentucky; and a brother, Terry (Pamela) Marshall of Homosassa, Florida.

Joan Anderson

   Joan Anderson, 84, passed away Feb. 1, 2017, at St. Rita’s Hospice Care Center, Bluffton. 
   Joan was born March 24, 1932, in Allen County, Ohio, to the late Guy C. and Mary (Mason) Mayberry.  On March 24, 1951, she married Donald Anderson who survives.
   Joan was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School and was a homemaker.  She was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church in Bluffton.  Joan enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
   Survivors also include a son, Jeffrey (Tonya) Anderson of Elida; a daughter, Jennifer (David) Frick of Lima; six grandchildren, Julie (B.J.) Thaxton, Melissa Frick, Brian (Diana) Frick, Misty (Brian) Wainscott, Sara (Brent) Stemen, Shane (Joyce) Thomas; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Mary Kathryn Niswander

   Mary Kathryn Niswander, 98, passed away Jan. 30, at Willow Ridge - Frieda House in Bluffton. 
   Mary was born June 15, 1918, in Pandora to the late Tony and Zella (Steele) Frantz.  On Dec. 24, 1938, she married Stanley Niswander, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 2003.
  Mary graduated from Pandora High School.  She retired from Sears-Roebuck in Lima where she had been a division manager.  She enjoyed her job and cherished the friendships that she made there.   Mary was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bluffton and past member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lima.  She enjoyed gardening, playing piano, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and close friends.
